AutoCAD was originally released in December 1982 by Autodesk, Inc. as a standalone Windows-only, DOS-based desktop app that could be purchased as an OEM license. It was the first commercially available computer-aided drafting software. The release of AutoCAD for the Windows OS marked a major milestone in CAD software development, as it was the first widely available computer-aided design software for the desktop, rather than on a mainframe or minicomputer.

AutoCAD was originally a DOS-based app, but in November 1986 Autodesk purchased AutoCAD developer The Delta Group, developers of the popular Deskplace program. With this acquisition, AutoCAD became a Windows-only app. This was the last version to use DOS as its operating system.

In September 1988 Autodesk announced a lower-cost version, AutoCAD-S, was released for the DOS platform. This program was discontinued after September 1989. In 1991 Autodesk began distributing AutoCAD as a licensed utility, bundled with other Autodesk products.

In August 1996 Autodesk purchased Macromedia and all of its assets including Flash software. AutoCAD was updated to include Flash, now known as FlashCAM, to produce the first version of AutoCAD for the web. In December 2001 Autodesk released AutoCAD LT (2001), a cheaper, lower-cost version.

Autodesk announced the discontinuation of AutoCAD LT in 2008. In 2010 Autodesk retired the Autodesk CorelDRAW product line and announced that CorelDRAW would be discontinued by May 2013. In 2013 Autodesk introduced AutoCAD as a subscription-based product. It was named AutoCAD Subscription. In 2016 Autodesk discontinued the AutoCAD Subscription product line.

AutoCAD LT (2001)

Release date: 2001

Discontinued: 2008

Autodesk introduced AutoCAD LT in 2001. It is a low-cost, lower-powered version of AutoCAD. The original version (2001) and 2003 version were released for the Intel 386 platform and were created in the classic style and the DOS-based GUI. These releases were discontinued after the release of AutoCAD (2009) and

A one-year field campaign was conducted in the Songnen Plain to monitor the dynamic phosphorus (P) speciation in groundwater and geologic materials. The pH, oxidation-reduction potential (ORP), anion and cation concentrations, dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentrations, and major cations and anions were investigated at four monitoring wells in order to analyze the relationships between the DOC concentrations and chemical characteristics of groundwater and geologic materials. In geologic materials, the dominant cations in the Quaternary red clay sandstone were Ca2+, Mg2+ and Na+, the main anions were SO42- and NO3-, and the major forms of P were HHPO4(2-), H2PO4(-) and HPO4(2-). The total dissolved P (TDP) in the groundwater samples ranged from 0.0228 to 5.2963 mg L-1. The content of TDP increased as the ORP and DOC concentrations increased, but the relationship between the ORP and DOC concentrations was not very significant. The TDP was mainly in the form of HHPO4(2-). The concentrations of dissolved inorganic P (DIP

NASA is looking for a new tenant for the Planetary Science Division’s (PSD) Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) spacecraft. In early 2020, the space agency intends to bid the space station’s first SpaceX crew to retire the current host vehicle.

The current tenant, the University of California, San Diego’s (UCSD’s) Deep Space Atomic Clock, has been operating aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for over three years. The spacecraft, launched in 2014, was sent to test a new type of atomic clock, which would be used for future deep space navigation missions.

The current atomic clock is a testbed for new methods in atomic clock technology that could be employed for future deep space missions.

The clock, known as the Deep Space Atomic Clock (DSAC), was originally developed for the US Air Force’s Deep Space Atomic Clock Pathfinder mission and has been aboard the ISS since 2014, alongside a second DSAC, dubbed the Orbiting Optical Backscatter Detector. The second DSAC was launched on an unpiloted Falcon 9 rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in February 2016, and arrived on the ISS that same year.

DSAC is housed inside a spare cabin on the Soyuz TMA-21 spacecraft that ferried the station’s Expedition 51 crew, NASA astronaut Anne McClain and Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko, to the orbiting complex. McClain and Kononenko launched to the station on January 3, 2018, and the trio joined the rest of the Expedition 51 crew – Commander Alexander Gerst, Soyuz Commander Oleg Kotov and Flight Engineers Serena Auñón-Chancellor and Jack Fischer – on February 23. DSAC remained aboard the station until January 10, 2019, when the spacecraft was unloaded by McClain and Kononenko and returned to Earth aboard their Soyuz craft.
